Fire Door Servicing FAQs

Are fire doors a legal requirement? Open
In the UK, fire doors are a legal requirement in most non-domestic buildings and certain types of residential accommodation. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the person responsible for fire safety must ensure that fire doors are suitable for their intended purpose, correctly installed and maintained so they continue to perform effectively in the event of a fire. Guidance within BS 9999 recommends that fire doors are inspected at least every six months to help identify any damage, wear or issues that could affect their performance. Failing to meet your legal fire safety responsibilities can have serious consequences. If inadequate fire safety measures are found following a fire, enforcement action may be taken, which can include substantial fines or, in the most serious cases, imprisonment.
Where are fire doors required? Open
Fire doors are typically required in business premises, commercial buildings, public buildings, blocks of flats, and houses in multiple occupation (HMOs). Fire doors are generally not required in private houses or individual domestic dwellings (unless specific building regulations apply).

Important: Please ensure an up-to-date asbestos register or relevant asbestos survey is available for our engineers to review upon arrival. If this cannot be provided, and our engineer is unable to carry out the work, you will still be charged for the scheduled visit.

Products From Fire Protection Shop

Fire Protection Shop specialise in the supply of high-quality fire extinguishers. There are many different classifications of fire and so our products include a variety of different extinguisher types. For example, we offer water or foam fire extinguishers for solid combustibles and carbon dioxide fire extinguishers for flammable liquid or electrical fires. Each extinguishing agent comes with its benefits. Typically, water extinguishers are cheaper, produce a cooling effect and prevent reignition once the fire has been extinguished. Carbon dioxide extinguishers are clean agents, they leave no residue, are suitable for electrical fires and are often used on liquid fires which include petrol, oil or other solvents.

In addition to our extinguishers, we offer a range of fire safety products to both domestic and commercial premises. This includes the supply of fire blankets, extinguisher stands, smoke alarms, first aid kits and much more. Our entire range is sourced from reputable brand manufacturers at competitive prices. Also, all of our products carry a full warranty and guarantee and are supplied with relevant fixings where applicable.

So, for fire extinguishers, alarms and all your other fire safety needs, trust Fire Protection Shop to give you the quality, expertise and service you require.
