The FireShield soft case fire blanket is a type of fire safety equipment that consists of a piece of fire-resistant woven fibreglass material and is used to extinguish small fires. It is designed to be stored in a soft case for easy access in case of an emergency. Also, the dimension variants we offer are large enough to cover most small fires.

The fire blanket works by cutting off the oxygen supply and smothering the fire when laid over the top of the flame.

Fire blankets are often used in kitchens and laboratories where pan, oil or cooking fires can occur. Simply remove it from the case, unfold it, and place it over the fire, making sure to cover the entire area.

Some common uses for a fire blanket include:

Kitchen fires: Smother a cooking oil fire by using a fire blanket. To prevent flames from spreading, wrap the saucepan in the blanket before removing it from the heat.

Also, keep additional fire blankets on hand to use if needed. Clothing fires: To smother the flames of a clothing fire, drape a fire blanket over the person and apply pressure to extinguish them.

Electrical fires: A fire blanket can be used to smother a small electrical appliance fire, preventing the flames from spreading.

Remember that a fire blanket should only be used on small fires, never large ones. If the flames grow beyond control, evacuate immediately and call the fire brigade. This fire blanket meets BS EN 1869:2019 standards. This is a European Standard that specifies the requirements and test methods for fire blankets intended for use by the general public. The standard covers aspects such as size, materials, labelling, and packaging of the fire blanket.
